Building a Safer, Stronger Fourth Street
The West Fourth Street Corridor is at the heart of Reno’s history and daily life—and now, it’s at the center of a major transformation. Through two coordinated efforts—Project 1: West Fourth Street Downtown and Project 2: West Fourth Street Safety—local and federal partners are working together to improve safety, mobility, and the overall experience for everyone who travels this important roadway.

These projects are a joint effort between the City of Reno, RTC Washoe, the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), and the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT). With support from the Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) and local fuel tax funds, the improvements will bring long-term benefits to drivers, pedestrians, cyclists, and the broader community.

By combining resources, vision, and commitment, this partnership is shaping West Fourth Street into a safer, more connected corridor that supports both Reno’s residents and its growing future.
